368 FNUS72 KMHX 081006 FWSMHX Spot Forecast for Rough Road Fire...NCFS National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC 606 AM EDT Wed Jul 8 2026 Forecast is based on forecast start time of 0700 EDT on July 08. If conditions become unrepresentative, or if you have questions or concerns about this forecast, contact the National Weather Service in Newport at (252)223-2328. .DISCUSSION... A backdoor cold front moving through the region today will combine with the daily seabreeze to bring increased chances for showers and thunderstorms to ENC this afternoon and evening. The strongest storms would bring the potential for gusty and erratic winds (40-60 mph), heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Winds become more NE-ENE'rly behind the front. The front washes out tonight bringing a return to southerly flow across ENC. We return to a more typical summertime pattern with isolated to widely scattered afternoon showers/storms along the seabreeze Thursday and Friday. Increasing chances for precip return this weekend with the approach of a front. It will remain hot and humid across much if not all of ENC into this weekend with highs getting into the 90s each day. .REST OF TODAY... Sky/weather.........Partly sunny then becoming cloudy.
