Monsoon moisture will increase through the period with scattered thunderstorms expected to develop along the ridge line around 1300 and continue into the evening. There is a low probability (20% chance) for thunderstorm redevelopment through 11 PM over or near the burn scar. Heavy rainfall capable of producing flash flooding will be possible, though heavier amounts may be more localized on the burn scar as the focus for more widespread heavy rain appears to be more favored for locations north of highway 50 today. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms will become more numerous for Sunday through at least Wednesday as monsoon moisture increases over the region. The risk for heavy rains and flash flooding will be moderate to high through the period, and Flash Flood Watches may become necessary as details become more clear. Rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 will be possible should stronger storms impact the burn scar during this period. And heavier precipitation amounts can not be ruled out. The risk looks highest towards mid week (Tue-Wed) for now. Otherwise, expect breezy afternoon winds each day, with winds becoming erratic and strong (gusts up to 50 mph) near thunderstorms. Wind directions will generally follow diurnal patterns with easterly upslope flow during the afternoon and light westerly winds overnight. .REST OF TODAY...
