A few showers are already ongoing across Shenandoah National Park. Expect additional showers and thunderstorms to move across the park through this evening. The most likely time for the heaviest shower and storms is between 7 PM to 10 PM, with additional thunderstorms lingering through 1 AM to 2 AM. Strong wind gusts of 50-60 mph, torrential downpours leading to flooding, and lightning strikes are the main threats. Generally looking at around a half inch to one inch of rain, perhaps even higher in heavier bands of rain and storms. A cold front will push through the area tonight. High pressure moves over the area Sunday into early next week, bringing a cool down and less humidity. Monday and Tuesday could be the driest days in terms of RH that we have seen in quite some time. Valley locations, as well as the VA Piedmont could even drop well into the 30s. Current forecast shows higher values at this time, but may need to adjust as confidence grows. A cluster of thunderstorms have developed across the far southern Texas Panhandle. These storms are moving south at 15 mph. These storms have produced wind gusts between 45 to 55 mph. The front end of this cluster looks to be diminishing, however as these storms weaken, could still see gusty outflows up to 50 to 55 mph. Winds ahead of this cluster are moderately breezy around 10 to 15 mph and from the southwest. However, winds will shift behind the cluster to the north to northwest around 20 to 30 mph. If an outflow does push through, you could see northerly winds around 40 to 50 mph. Current RH value is 19 percent. It is expected to remain around 19 percent the rest of the evening. However, with these cluster of storms moving in, we are seeing RH values up to 40 percent. Dry lightning is also possible with these storms. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms remain possible through midnight, however thunderstorms look to clear the northern Rolling Plains around 9-10 PM. Following the storms, winds are expected to remain light and out of the southwest. If thunderstorms remain around the forecast area, could still expect some erratic winds from possible outflows. There is a very low chance (10%) that an isolated shower develops and moves over or nearby the burn site after during the early morning hours before daybreak, mainly between 4-6 AM.
