...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 430 PM MST THIS AFTERNOON...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.



* WHERE...Prescott Valley in Yavapai County in west central

  Arizona...



* WHEN...Until 430 PM MST.



* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in creeks and normally dry washes is

  imminent or occurring. Water flowing over roadways will create

  slick roads and muddy unpaved roads. Ponding of water on highways

  and in urban areas will create hazardous travel conditions.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 122 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated

    heavy rain due to thunderstorms over Prescott Valley. Minor

    flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory

    area. Between 0.75 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.

  - This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers...

    Chaparral Gulch, Coyote Wash, Lynx Creek, Agua Fria River,

    Winters Wash and Granite Creek. Additional rainfall amounts up to

    0.5 inches are expected over the area.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Prescott Valley and Dewey-Humboldt.

  - This includes the following highways...

    State Route 69 between mile markers 279 and 292. State Route 89A

    between mile markers 322 and 325.



    This includes the following recreation areas andcampgrounds...

    Hilltop Campground and Mountainview Park.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.



Low water crossings will become dangerous in heavy rain. Do not

attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 456 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to

    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin

    shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have

    fallen.

  - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over

    the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    DeBordieu Colony.
