High pressure located between the Bahamas and Bermuda ridges over Florida and into the Gulf and will keep east through southeast winds around 10-15 knots over the eastern Gulf waters and scattered showers and storms for today. A cold front moves through the waters late Friday into Saturday producing higher rain and storm chances for all of the eastern Gulf waters. Hazardous marine conditions will set up over the eastern Gulf waters starting Saturday morning as a tight pressure gradient sets up over the region in the wake of this front producing north through northeast winds around 20-30 knots and seas up to 13 feet. This has warranted the need for a Small Craft Advisory starting Saturday morning and continuing well into the first half of next week. Conditions will be closely monitored for a possible Gale Warning as well over the weekend and into next week. $$ GMZ830-162015- Tampa Bay waters- 312 AM EDT Fri Oct 16 2026 ...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE MONDAY NIGHT... .TODAY...East winds 5 to 10 knots, becoming south early this afternoon, then becoming west late. A frontal boundary south of the waters will move back north this morning. Meanwhile, an area of low pressure over the Great Lakes will move northeast into northern New England by this evening. The associated cold front will pass across the waters tonight, with an area of strong high pressure building in behind it. Additionally, most model guidance shows the potential for a coastal low to develop along the cold front. This low has the potential to linger off the Southeast coast well into next week, resulting in a prolong period of elevated winds and seas. Gale Warnings have been issued for a large portion of the local waters to account for the first part of the surge through Sunday night. $$ ANZ630-162030- Chesapeake Bay from Smith Point to Windmill Point VA- 334 AM EDT Fri Oct 16 2026 ...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING... ...GALE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING... .THROUGH 7 AM...SE winds 5 to 10 kt with gusts up to 15 kt, becoming S late. A small long-period NNE swell approaching the Atlantic waters will linger into the weekend. By early next week an additional NNW swell will reach the Atlantic waters as a distant surface low pressure moves east into the western Atlantic.
