It'll be a hot day today across Kansas, with forecast high temperatures in the 90s to low 100s, warmest over southwest Kansas. A few clusters of thunderstorms are expected to develop over the High Plains late this afternoon and evening, and track east to southeast across Kansas overnight. Coverage will likely be greatest over generally the northern half of the state. A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible. The early week frontal system should continue to drop southward to near the Virginia/North Carolina border today. This system gradually returns northward as a warm front by Thursday. Additional disturbances in the upper atmosphere will maintain daily chances for showers and thunderstorms this week. Temperatures are below average today before warming back up late in the week. Another cold front moves through over the weekend which brings a slight cool down along with less humidity. $$
