...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 815 PM CDT
FOR LAFAYETTE...CENTRAL ACADIA AND NORTHWESTERN ST. MARTIN
PARISHES...

At 750 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Egan to near Cade to Butte La Rose, moving south
at 20 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated. A wind gust of 57 mph was recently 
         recorded at Lafayette Regional Airport.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to 
         roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Lafayette, Crowley, Catahoula, Scott, Breaux Bridge, Rayne, Carencro,
St. Martinville, Iota, Mermentau, Evangeline, Broussard, Youngsville,
Duson, Henderson, Butte La Rose, Maxie, Mire, Egan, and Cade.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
