Daily rounds of isolated to scattered afternoon thunderstorms continue through the weekend into next, favoring development over the high terrain before moving over surrounding lower elevations late afternoon and evening. Storms over western and central NM will threaten strong and abrupt wind shifts and dry lightning capable of new fire starts through Friday. Storms along and east of the central mountain chain will be more rain efficient. The heat builds with more widespread moderate heat impacts thru Friday as well.
