Critical fire weather will continue today over the lower Rio Grande Valley and nearby highlands. Elevated to critical fire weather may return Wednesday in the same area if southerly winds become strong enough. Very dry and breezy conditions will continue as well over central and western NM Thursday and Friday but winds are likely to be weaker than the past few days. Meanwhile, deeper moisture in place over eastern NM Wednesday and Thursday will increase chances for low clouds, patchy fog, rain showers, and a few thunderstorms with wetting rainfall. A pattern change toward increasing storm chances may begin Saturday over eastern NM before spreading to a larger portion of the state Sunday through Tuesday. ................................................................
