As there have been some lingering low clouds over central and northeastern South Dakota into this afternoon, temperatures have been kept lower than expected with higher humidity values sticking around. Minimum relative humidity values today will be above 45 to 65 percent. Winds this afternoon will continue to be out of the north northeast, with gusts of 15-20 mph. The winds will shift tonight into Thursday to be out if the east over areas east of the James river, with fairly calm winds through the afternoon. Areas to the west of the James river will have winds out of the southeast with gusts of 15-20 mph during the afternoon. Minimum relative humidity will still be fairly decent through the afternoon, staying between 45 to 55 percent across central and northeastern South Dakota. There is also a slight (level 2 of 5) to marginal (level 1 of 5) risk for severe storms to develop mainly over north central and areas west of the Missouri River late Thursday afternoon through the evening. These storms could have lightning, hail up to 1 inch in diameter, and wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph.
