A cold front will move through the state today, with winds becoming northwest and increasing to 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph in its wake. Winds will then gradually diminish tonight from northwest to southeast. High temperatures today will only climb into the mid 40s to mid 50s, while minimum relative humidity values drop to around 50 percent over southwest and far south central North Dakota, higher elsewhere. Winds over western North Dakota turn southerly on Friday, increasing to 15 to 25 mph, while over central North Dakota the winds will be lighter, turning southerly later in the day. Minimum relative humidity values drop into the 20s to lower 30s over southwest North Dakota. This will combine with the winds to bring possible near critical fire weather conditions. Minimum relative humidity values are expected to range from the mid 30s to mid 40s elsewhere. On Saturday, warm temperatures are expected with highs in the mid 60s to mid 70s, with a southwesterly wind around 10 to 20 mph. Humidity values drop into the teens to lower 20s over southwest North Dakota, mainly mid 20s to mid 30s elsewhere. This may lead to another day of near critical fire weather conditions over southwest North Dakota.
