Low pressure will track toward our region on Friday with a widespread wetting rainfall with southerly winds expected. Rainfall amounts will range between one-half to one inch of rain. Southerly winds will increase at 15 to 30 mph with localized gusts 30 to 45 mph likely across the Champlain Valley and exposed higher terrain. Much cooler and breezy conditions return on Saturday with some light mountain snow showers. A long duration dry spell is expected next week, but winds will remain below critical fire weather conditions. Given the dry conditions, warmer temperatures and sunshine, significant drying of fine fuels, including leaf litter can be anticipated next week.
