FNUS51 KBTV 191836 FWFBTV Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Northern Vermont and Northern New York National Weather Service Burlington VT 236 PM EDT Tue May 19 2026 .DISCUSSION... ...Spotty Thunderstorms Possible Today; Trending Dry After Wednesday... Warm weather is prevalent today, but with somewhat humid air, our relative humidity values are near to above 40 percent. Breezy southwest to west winds up to 20 mph have been noted at various locations, and these will continue through evening. Even after sunset, winds will remain somewhat elevated. Shower and thunderstorm chances will be fairly hit-or-miss with a couple batches. Embedded cores may have some locally heavy downpours, but most areas will be dry or have a couple hundredths. Limited fire weather concerns remain the theme today. A cold front will shift south for tomorrow. An isolated shower or two will be possible as winds shift northwesterly and trend back towards 20-25 mph gusts in the afternoon. Incoming dry air will push minimum relative humidity values to 30-40 percent during the afternoon. In particular, south-central Vermont has not seen as much rain over the last three to four days. However, we're still only about five to six days removed from the 1-2 inch soaker. So fire weather concerns will remain limited. Continued drying is expected towards Friday.
