An inside slider trough continues to make its way through California this afternoon. This system is forcing stronger winds to develop across central California, especially at lower elevations and in the Mojave Desert. Drier air from the northwest is driving down relative humidity values below 20 percent which, when combined with the increased winds, is resulting in a major risk for fire danger, specifically for fast-moving grass fires, in the San Joaquin Valley and West Side Hill and in the Mojave Desert. A warming trend starting Monday will cause relative humidity values to fall below 15 percent for much of the lower elevations and for some areas of the Sierra Nevada.
