A weakening dome of high pressure across the TN Valley will maintain calm conditions this morning, with a gradual increase in NW winds later today ahead of a weak reinforcing cold front. Although abundant sunshine (warming temps into the l-m 90s) and dry profiles will create MinRH in the 40-50% range today, a few showers are expected to evolve along the cold front as it drifts southward across north AL overnight (with the greatest chance for a thunderstorm or two expected to be across NW AL late this afternoon/early this evening). Light northerly winds in the wake of the front will advect an even drier airmass into the region tomorrow, with MinRH dropping into the 35-45% range. Smoke dispersion will be good both today and tomorrow, with mixing heights of 6500-7500 ft and transport winds of 5-10 MPH. Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy, locally dense fog will impact small parts of north AL early this morning. Conditions appear less favorable for fog development early Sunday morning.
