Gusty winds and brief heavy rain are the main threats. Early morning temperatures remained mild ranging from the 60s and low 70s in western Kansas to the upper 70s to around 80 in parts of southeast Kansas. Partly cloudy conditions are expected after morning storms dissipate in eastern Kansas leading to another hot day. Afternoon highs will top out in the 90s for much of the area although those in far southern Kansas will see highs in the upper 90s to around 100. Heat indices in southeast Kansas will also rise above 100. Isolated storms may develop along a diffuse frontal boundary over parts of southern Kansas this afternoon. Showers and storms developing over western Kansas may drift into central Kansas again tonight. Low temperatures are expected to fall into the lower 60s western Kansas, while far southeast Kansas will bottom out in the mid to upper 70s. $$
