Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening across the Sandhills and north central Nebraska along with storms developing across the Panhandle and moving into western Sandhills and southwest Nebraska. Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible with damaging wind gusts and large hail being the main concern, along with heavy rainfall. A second round of thunderstorms may develop later this evening and overnight across portions of western Nebraska into the Sandhills and eastward. Storms in the late evening and overnight will still pose a risk for damaging winds, large hail and a secondary threat of heavy rainfall. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday. Scattered thunderstorms are likely in the late afternoon and evening Thursday, mainly for areas west of Highway 83. A few storms may be severe with damaging wind gusts the main concerns though large hail is also possible. Activity may persist late into the overnight Thursday into Friday, including the threat for severe, but confidence in this is limited at this time. Much warmer temperatures are expected early next week with consecutive days of afternoon highs in the upper 90s to low 100s forecast for Sunday through Wednesday.
