...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 730 PM CDT
FOR NORTHWESTERN ST. BERNARD AND SOUTHWESTERN ORLEANS PARISHES...

At 701 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Chalmette,
moving south at 35 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated. At 6:53pm CDT, a 68mph wind gust was 
         reported at the New Orleans Lakefront Airport.

IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile 
         homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

Locations impacted include...
New Orleans, Chalmette, Meraux, Arabi, Violet, and Terrytown.

This includes Interstate 10 in Louisiana near mile marker 238.
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
