...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 PM CDT
FOR SOUTHEASTERN TANGIPAHOA PARISH...

At 501 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles southeast of
Ponchatoula, or 11 miles southeast of Hammond, moving south at 15
mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
W Lk Pontchartrain Buoy.

This includes Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 16 and
23.
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If on or near areas of water, get away and move to safe shelter
immediately. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be
struck by lightning. Severe thunderstorms can produce large capsizing
waves, even on small bodies of water. Move into dock and seek safe
shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
