For today, elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions have been focused across the LA/Ventura county mountains, Santa Clarita Valley, northern San Fernando Valley, and eastern Ventura valleys where northeast wind gusts of 25 to 40 mph have been common, except isolated gusts 40 to 50 mph across the LA county interior mountains and Santa Susana mountains. These winds are overlapping with humidities between 8 and 15 percent. Winds will diminish by late afternoon, with an onshore wind reversal across coastal and coastal valley areas. By late tonight and Tuesday, there will be another uptick in offshore winds, but gusts will mostly be in the 20 to 30 mph range across the same wind prone areas, except gusts of 30 to 40 mph in the LA county mountains and Santa Susana mountains. Warmer and continued very dry conditions combined with the gusty offshore winds will continue to bring elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions for the same areas on Tuesday. As a result, there will continue to be an elevated risk of fast moving grass and shrub fire activity today into Tuesday. Warm and dry conditions will persist across interior sections the remainder of the week.
