Hot and dry conditions will continue through Monday with temperatures between 95 and 106 degrees common over most valleys, mountains, and deserts. These temperatures will likely bump up slightly from Tuesday through at least Friday, especially across the valleys and interior coastal plain as weak offshore pressure trends are likely to develop. During the peak of the heat during this time frame, we can expected widespread temperatures 100 to 110 degrees across the valleys, lower mountains and deserts. This will likely translate into expansion of widespread elevated fire weather conditions over these areas. Minimum humidities will lower to between 10 and 25 percent each day away from the coast, driest next week. Meanwhile, mixing heights will likely range between 10,000 and 17,000 feet across the interior each afternoon, potentially climbing as high as 18,000 feet during the peak of the heat Tuesday through Friday. This will maintain the threat for large plume dominated fires. Gusty sundowner winds will likely affect southwest Santa Barbara County the next several evenings, potentially becoming slightly stronger/widespread with hotter/drier conditions by Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. This will likely bring critical fire weather conditions to Southern Santa Barbara county and possibly the I-5 corridor Tuesday evening into Friday night, with a 20-30 percent chance of Red Flag durations during this time. Also, there will likely be a slight influx of mid level moisture on Monday which could bring a 10-15 percent chance of thunderstorms across eastern San Gabriel mountains and eastern Antelope Valley, with isolated dry lightning strikes the main threat.
