Broad high pressure will continue to strengthen while pushing further offshore today. Spotty showers and thunderstorms remain possible, especially west of the Blue Ridge this afternoon and evening as another wave of energy passes through. A strong cold front will bring more widespread showers and strong thunderstorms to the area Wednesday into Thursday. Behind this system, temperatures cool with continued on and off rain chances into the weekend as the front stalls nearby. Minimum relative humidity values will range between 25 to 40 percent this afternoon with recoveries back around 55 to 70 percent tonight into Wednesday morning. WInds will remain out of the south and southwest at 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph this afternoon. Rainfall amounts will range between one to two inches through Saturday with locally higher amounts across central and northeast MD as well as the Allegheny Mountains.
