Broad high pressure will continue to strengthen while pushing further offshore through Tuesday. Spotty showers and thunderstorms remain possible, especially west of the Blue Ridge this afternoon and again Tuesday as multiple pieces of energy pass through. A strong cold front will bring more widespread showers and strong thunderstorms to the area Wednesday into Thursday. Behind this system, temperatures cool with continued on and off rain chances into the weekend as the front stalls nearby. Minimum relative humidity values will fall into the 30 to 45 percent range this afternoon with south to southwesterly winds gusting up to 15 mph. Expect recoveries back around 70 to 90 percent Monday night with 25 to 35 percent values Tuesday afternoon as the ridge of high pressure strengthens further. Rainfall amounts through Wednesday will range between a quarter to a half an inch. Most of this will occur on Wednesday as the front pushes through. .WEDNESDAY...
