...Above bankfull but below flood stage levels were observed along
the Independence Creek...Terlingua Creek and Rio Grande...

 Locally heavy rainfall from remnants of Hurricane Simon over the
 past few days has resulted in elevated flows on the Rio Grande and
 Independence Creek.  While river flooding is not anticipated at
 these locations at this time, additional rainfall over the next 24
 hours may exacerbate the situation.

For the Rio Grande at Rio Grande at Presidio Vehicle Bridge
* The current stage was 4.4 feet (1.3 meters).
* Impacts at 12.0 feet (3.7 meters) the river reaches bankfull, after
  which the flood plain between the levees begins to flood.  No
  damage is expected.

For the Terlingua Creek at Terlingua Creek near Terlingua, Texas
* The current stage was 4.51 feet.
* Impacts at 10.0 feet the creek reaches bankfull.  Minor overbank
  flooding begins, but no damage is known to occur.  Hikers in Big
  Bend National Park should be alert to rapidly changing conditions
  along the creek.

For the Rio Grande at Rio Grande below Rio Conchos near Presidio,
Texas
* The current stage was 2.39 feet (0.7 meters).
* Impacts at 9.0 feet (2.7 meters) the river reaches minor flood
  stage, and low lying areas begin to flood.

For the Independence Creek at Independence Creek near Sheffield,
Texas
* The current stage was 4.74 feet.
* Impacts at 15.0 feet Independence creek threatens the U. S. Highway
  285 bridge.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
