FNUS54 KMAF 080602 FWFMAF Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 102 AM CDT Wed Jul 8 2026 .DISCUSSION... The forecast remains relatively unchanged. Despite very warm temperatures up to the triple digits and ERCs in the 50th to 74th percentile, min RH above 15%, good overnight recovery, and light 20-ft southeast, humid, upslope winds will maintain low fire weather conditions. Fire starts from lightning strikes and gusty, erratic winds may still lead to ignitions, especially for regions with higher storms chances such as the higher terrain. Light winds are still expected to limit fire spread. Cooler temperatures and increased rain chances this weekend will likely prolong low fire weather conditions. && For point-specific forecasts please see the Point Fire Weather Matrix product issued by the Midland/Odessa National Weather Service Office.
