FNUS54 KMAF 190727 FWFMAF Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 227 AM CDT Tue May 19 2026 .DISCUSSION... With weaker winds expected for today, fire weather conditions will be locally elevated for areas generally west of the Pecos River Valley. Min RHs dip back below 10% and fuels remain quite dry with ERCs near or above the 50th to 70th percentile. However, a cold front will push through today, shifting winds, and gradually bring in cooler air. Rain chances will be present, higher for areas east of the higher elevations, from today through the coming weekend. Some areas will see wetting rains and an overall improvement to the fuel landscape. && For point-specific forecasts please see the Point Fire Weather Matrix product issued by the Midland/Odessa National Weather Service Office.
