FZUS63 KMQT 151401 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 1001 AM EDT Thu Oct 15 2026 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS... Two 29.9 inch lows, one over Lake Winnipeg and the other over northern Illinois late this morning and early this afternoon, merge with one another to form a 29.6 inch low over Lower Michigan and Lake Huron tonight. In its wake, a 30.9 inch high lifts off of the Central Rockies into the Great Plains on Friday, weakening to 30.6 inches as it does so while the aforementioned low deepens to 29.4 inches and heads towards the Mouth of the St. Lawrence River. The high slides south of the Great Lakes at 30.5 inches by Saturday night as a 29.4 inch Alberta Clipper moves through the Canadian Prairies towards Hudson Bay, deepening to 29.0 inches by the time it arrives on Sunday. This low is projected to bring troughing of 29.9 inches over Lake Superior. As the low moves east over Hudson Bay and weakens with time Sunday night into Monday, expect high pressure ridging of 30.3 inches to return to the Upper Great Lakes. The high pressure ridging strengthens to 30.4 inches over Lake Superior by Tuesday.
