Idaho (Zones 102 and 103): Lingering morning showers will give way to a significantly drier airmass today. A cold front brings cooler daytime temperatures, but deep boundary-layer mixing will produce gusty westerly winds amidst the dry air, resulting in elevated fire weather conditions. High pressure rebuilds early next week, bringing temperatures back to above normal, along with the return of poor overnight mid-slope relative humidity recoveries. Northwest MT (Zones 104 and 105): Lingering morning showers will give way to a cooler, significantly drier airmass today. Deep boundary- layer mixing will produce strong, gusty westerly winds. This combination of wind and dry air will maintain elevated to critical fire weather conditions. A ridge rebuilds Monday, initiating a warming trend with temperatures returning to above normal. Stable conditions will also allow poor overnight relative humidity recoveries to return along mid- slopes and ridges early next week. West Central MT (Zones 106, 107 and 108): Isolated morning showers will rapidly clear as a cold front ushers in a much drier airmass today. Cooler daytime temperatures are expected, but deep boundary-layer mixing will drive gusty westerly winds. The strong winds and dry air will result in elevated to critical fire weather conditions today. High pressure returns early next week, bringing above-normal temperatures and poor overnight relative humidity recoveries across mid-slopes and ridges. Southwest MT (Zones 109, 110 and 111): A cold front today brings cooler temperatures, but ushers in a very dry airmass. Deep boundary-layer mixing will produce strong, gusty westerly winds, resulting in widespread critical fire weather conditions this afternoon and evening.
