A warmer and drier airmass sets in today and will persist through the weekend into next week. We are not expecting the extreme heat some of our surrounding area are, but fuels will dry. Also, a mid/upper level monsoonal moisture surge from the south brings the potential for high based thunderstorms Sunday and Monday. This a low confidence, low probability but potentially high impact scenario if we see elevated convection develop over our area. Any elevated thunderstorms that may develop could lead to dry lightning and gusty, erratic outflow winds. Remain aware of the the thunderstorm potential through the weekend into the beginning of next week. ...Discussion from SFOFWFEKA... Clear, dry, and hot weather is arriving for the interior valleys this afternoon and will last through Friday. A large ridge of high pressure building over the region will push temperatures up into the 90s, with many mountain valleys reaching between 100 and 105 degrees. At the same time, humidity levels during the day will drop quite low into the teens and 20s. This dry air will quickly dry out the brush and grass in the forests, which increases the fire danger. Winds will stay mostly light and follow normal daily patterns, blowing gently up the mountain slopes in the afternoon. The immediate coast will be protected from this heat by a cool, damp layer of ocean clouds and fog, which will allow for excellent humidity recovery overnight. Looking ahead to next week, we are tracking a stronger heatwave inland, along with a small chance of moisture moving up from the south that could bring a risk of lightning to the northeastern mountains. ##################################################################### ## ## ## Complete a discussion for each ECCDA segment below ## ## When done click transmit, product sent as KMTRFWLMTR ## ## ## ##################################################################### ECC010-100015- St Helena ECC Dispatch- DISCUSSION FOR Marin and Sonoma and Napa Counties 513 AM PDT Thu Jul 9 2026 A warmer and drier airmass sets in today and will persist through the weekend into next week.
