.SYNOPSIS...
Expect decreasing cloud cover Sunday afternoon with seasonable
temperatures. Upper level ridging and low-level offshore flow
develops Monday and Tuesday, bringing warmer and sunnier conditions
with high temperatures in the mid 80s to lower 90s across the
interior lowlands, warmest on Monday. Wildfire smoke will also begin
to increase over the Columbia River Gorge, Upper Hood River Valley,
and the greater Portland/Vancouver metro area Monday morning and then
linger through Tuesday, however smoke is not expected to be dense for
most locations. Onshore flow arrives Wednesday and continues
thereafter, which will clear any lingering smoke out of the area and
bring relatively cooler temperatures.

.DISCUSSION...Today through Saturday...Upper level troughing 
continues to move northeast toward southwestern Canada. This is 
supporting light, scattered showers over southwestern Washington
and the coast range early this morning. Radar indicates shallow
returns over the area and surface observations report rainfall 
totals of a few hundredths. Showers are expected to dissipate by
late this morning as zonal flow develops in the wake of the 
upper level trough. Highs will again be around to a few degrees 
below average in the upper 70s to low 80s for interior lowlands.
Winds shift from southerly to northerly as surface high 
pressure builds into the area. 

Heading into the work week, ensemble clusters favor ridging over the 
central CONUS and the PacNW. Warmer temperature are expected to 
return for Monday and Tuesday. Model spread has decreased for high 
temperatures between the 10th-90th percentiles now ranging from the 
upper 80s to low 90s on Monday and mid 80s to low 90s for Tuesday 
for the interior lowlands. Clusters then favor another trough 
influencing the region by the middle of the week but exact timing 
and placement are uncertain but onshore flow and seasonable or below 
average temperatures would be favored. Currently, the 10th-90th 
percentiles range from the mid 70s to low 80s. An increasing number 
of ensemble members indicate that light precipitation is possible 
during the Thursday-Friday timeframe but nothing significant at this

.AVIATION...18Z TAFs...Broken cloud cover continues both inland
and at the coast this morning with primary ceilings ranging
between 2000-3500 ft and secondary ceilings around 4000-5000 ft.
Expect the lower MVFR ceiling deck that is impacting most
terminals to scatter out by 19-20Z Sunday, with skies becoming
mostly clear by 22-23Z. Widespread VFR conditions will most likely
continue thereafter for the remainder of the 18Z TAF period, with
one potential exception at the coast. By 11Z Monday, KONP has a 
50-60% chance for the return of low stratus. Probabilities for low
stratus to return to KAST are lower at around 20%. Inland TAF 
sites have around a 10-20% chance to see a brief period of low 
stratus between 12-17Z Monday.

Expect breezy northerly winds along the coast between 22Z Sunday
and 03Z Monday, gusting upwards of 20 kt at KONP. Winds will be
relatively weaker inland, and should become predominately north to
northwest Sunday afternoon. Around 18-19Z Monday, easterly winds
around 8-11 kt are expected to develop at KTTD and KPDX as 
offshore winds develop through the Columbia River Gorge.

KPDX AND APPROACHES...Expect mainly VFR conditions from 19Z Sunday
onward as ceilings begin to lift and cloud cover begins to
gradually clear out. Light winds should become northwest around
7-8 kt around approximately 23Z Sunday with an incoming sea
breeze. -23

.MARINE...Northerly winds will gradually increase Sundayafternoon
and evening as high pressure strengthens over the northeast 
Pacific. Gusty winds will develop over the waters, increasing from
south to north from Florence to Cape Shoalwater. Wind gusts up to
25 kt are expected to develop during the evening, persisting 
through Monday afternoon. Small Craft Advisories have been issued
starting at 5 PM Sunday for the coastal waters from Florence 
north to Cape Falcon and starting at 11 PM for the coastal waters
north of Cape Falcon to Cape Shoalwater. Gusty winds up to 25 kt 
are also expected for the Columbia River bar starting at 8 AM 
Monday. Seas will be choppy during this time at 3-6 feet at 7-9 
seconds. -19/23
