Showers and thunderstorms are expected both today and Friday. Storms will initially fire over the mountains before pushing east through the evening, some becoming strong to severe. Gusty outflow winds, hail, and lightning will all be possible. Additionally, flash flooding will be possible if any rain falls on a recent or ongoing burn area. Meanwhile, spotty critical fire weather conditions are expected each afternoon through the next several days over the San Luis Valley, Fire Zone 224. Near-critical conditions may also appear less frequently over Fire Zone 220. Hotter and drier conditions set in across the district this weekend, with moisture slowly returning to the mountains by the middle of next week. Smoke dispersions will be good or better over most areas this afternoon, with poor to fair conditions over El Paso County. For Friday, dispersions will be very good or better over the central mountains and fair to good over most other areas. Pockets of poor dispersions are expected in El Paso County, as well as portions of the far southern plains.
