Showers and thunderstorms continue through the late afternoon and evening and develop again on Friday. Storms will initially fire over the mountains before pushing east through the evening, some becoming strong to severe. Gusty outflow winds, hail, and lightning will all be possible. Additionally, flash flooding will be possible if any rain falls on a recent or ongoing burn area. Meanwhile, spotty critical fire weather conditions are expected each afternoon through the next several days over the San Luis Valley, Fire Zone 224. Near-critical conditions may also appear less frequently over Fire Zone 220. Hotter and drier conditions set in across the district this weekend, with moisture slowly returning to the mountains by the middle of next week. Afternoon smoke dispersions will be very good or better over and near the higher terrain on Friday, with fair to good dispersion across eastern Colorado.
