An upper level system moving through today will bring a few impacts. Ahead of a cold front there will be the risk for thunderstorms capable of large hail and very strong wind gusts. These thunderstorms are moving quick enough to yield a mix of a few wetting rains and non-wetting rains. Hence, there is the risk for a few lightning ignitions with thunderstorms today. Behind the front moving through this afternoon the lowest part of the atmosphere dries out quite quickly as breezy west winds move in. Although temperatures will be falling behind the front, relative humidity does look to approach 20% in quite a few areas. Given the lower confidence for humidity lower than 20%, the post frontal environment looks to be more elevated than critical. It should be mentioned that in areas that see dry thunderstorms there is an increased concern for fire spread once the breezy westerly winds move in with the front. Looking ahead to this week there looks to be a couple day dry stretch before thunderstorms begin to slip back into the forecast Wednesday onward.
