Isolated thunderstorms remain possible over portions of northwest Arkansas and southeast Oklahoma Wednesday afternoon and should die off with the loss of daytime heating. There is a low chance for thunderstorms near the Kansas border late Thursday night and Friday as a weak boundary approaches from the north. Thunderstorm chances will increase into the weekend as a wave aloft interacts with the lingering boundary dropping down into the region. There is a limited risk of severe weather and a threat for locally heavy rainfall with these storms. Thunderstorm chances will cease next week as a ridge of high pressure builds aloft over the central part of the country. Afternoon heat indices each day are expected to range from around 100 degrees up to 105 degrees, especially across portions of eastern Oklahoma and west-central Arkansas. Heat headlines may be needed at times for portions of the area. weather.gov/tulsa contains additional information. $$
