ONSET...Ongoing. DISCUSSION... Hot and humid conditions are ongoing across the region with widespread heat index values of 103 to 110 degrees. These dangerous heat index values will continue through early evening before temperatures begin to slowly cool. A slight chance of thunderstorms remains in the forecast this afternoon and evening primarily north of Interstate 40. A risk of localized strong downbursts will be possible with any storms which develop. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Local Spotter Activation May Be Needed. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday. FRIDAY AND SATURDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Dangerous Heat Potential. SUNDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... Low storm chances remain across parts of northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas during the day Friday. Chances then increase Friday night and continue through the weekend across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Limited severe potential along with a heavy rain threat exist Friday into the weekend. The majority of the shower and storm chances begin to move out of the region early next week. However, a slight chance of storms remains into the middle part next week ahead of a ridge of high pressure building over western and central United States. Hot and humid conditions also continue Friday and Saturday with heat index values of 100 to 105 degrees common.
