* Above normal temperatures will continue into next week.

* Thunderstorm chances continue today but will decrease over the 
  weekend.

.DISCUSSION...through Thursday.

Today's high temperatures will be a few degrees "cooler" than 
temperatures were yesterday afternoon. However, an increase in 
moisture will make today's temperatures just as uncomfortable. 
Temperatures will increase a degree or two over the weekend as 
moisture decreases across the region. As a result, Major HeatRisk 
(Level 3 of 4) will stick around through Sunday for the Las Vegas 
Valley, Death Valley, Colorado River Valley, and lower elevations of 
Mohave County. Next week, temperatures will continue to run around 2 
to 4 degrees above normal, with afternoon temperatures topping out 
in the normal-to-slightly-above-normal range and overnight low 
temperatures running around 4 to 8 degrees warmer than normal.

Over the past 24-hours, moisture has increased across our forecast 
area, with 1-inch PWats pushing into Lincoln County and southeastern 
Inyo County. Locally, here in Las Vegas, PWats went from 0.88 inches 
at 18Z yesterday to 1.19 inches on today's 18Z sounding. This 
moisture will help to fuel isolated-to-scattered showers and 
thunderstorms across southern Nevada, northwestern Arizona, and 
southeastern California. As is typical of the monsoon, storms will 
favor areas of higher terrain for development and will tend to 
dissipate as they move off the terrain. Erratic outflow winds, 
lightning, and localized moderate-to-heavy rain will be possible 
with any storms that develop. Flash flooding will be a concern with 
any storms that begin training or in areas where there is continuous 
redevelopment over the terrain. Storm coverage will decrease each 
day over the weekend as moisture decreases.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 06Z Forecast Package... 
Expect south-southeasterly winds around 8kts through the night 
before weakening and becoming light and variable by the early 
morning. Southerly winds arrive in the late morning with breezier 
south winds arrive in the mid afternoon and stay through the 
evening. Gusts cut off after sunset as winds turn southwesterly and 
reduce. Temperatures look to break 100 degrees shortly after 17z, 
peak at 00z, and cool below 100 shortly before 04z. 


For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast 
California...For the 06Z Forecast Package...Winds are reducing for 
all but KDAG which stays gusty until the late night. Wind look to 
stay light through the night and much of the morning. Gustier winds 
arrive in the afternoon with peak gusts above 20kts possible. 
Passing showers will affect the valley into the afternoon but exit 
in the late afternoon. Gusts at KDAG arrive slightly later in the 
early evening and look to last into the late night while the rest of 
the TAF sites see gusts cut off and winds lighten.
