FORECASTS FOR THE BAHAMAS, ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF
METEOROLOGY AT 6:00 A.M. EDT, Wednesday, July 8, 2026, FOR TODAY,
TONIGHT AND THE NEXT SIX (6) DAYS. THE NEXT SCHEDULED FORECAST WILL
BE ISSUED AT 12:00 P.M. EDT.

WARNING IN EFFECT: A Near Gale Watch (28-33 knots) is NOW in effect
for the Southeast Bahamas. Near gale wind gusts over open waters are
possible across the watch area today through Thursday. For additional
marine information, please view our Marine Forecast on our website,
met.gov.bs.

A Heat Advisory remains in effect for the Northern Bahamas. Residents
and visitors are advised to remain hydrated, wear protective clothing
and sunscreen and avoid prolonged sun exposure during peak sunshine
hours. (11am to 4pm)

A Dust Advisory is NOW in effect for all islands of the Bahamas, as
well as the Turks & Caicos Islands. Residents, especially those with
respiratory conditions, should take the necessary precautions to
safeguard their health.

GENERAL SITUATION: A blanket of Saharan Dust remains across the
archipelago under a ridge of high pressure, contributing to dry, hot
and hazy conditions. Moderate to fresh winds will continue across
most areas, with fresh to strong breezes and near-gale wind gusts
possible across portions of the Southeastern islands.

Outlook: On Thursday, a robust tropical wave will move near the
Southeast Bahamas then gradually progress through the remainder of
the island chain towards the weekend possibly increasing shower and
thunderstorm chances as it contends with another round of thick
Saharan Dust. At the same time, a nearby mid to upper level
disturbance will introduce some moisture over the area leading to
much cloudier skies over the next several days. High pressure will
then become the dominant weather feature by the start of the weekend
promoting hot, mostly dry and hazy conditions once again.

SPECIAL WEATHER NOTES:
Rip Currents: Swimmers and beachgoers in the Southeast Bahamas should
avoid entering waters, due to the high risk of rip currents and rough
surf. Meanwhile a moderate risk is in effect for waters in the
Central Bahamas. Beachgoers are urged to exercise caution when
entering the water.

Coastal Hazards: Motorists and pedestrians across the Southeast
Bahamas are advised to exercise caution while traversing eastern and
southern coastal roads and shorelines due to possible overtopping
waves and sea spray, especially during the high tide cycle.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS
(INCLUDING GRAND BAHAMA, ABACO, BIMINI & ADJACENT WATERS):

at night.
PRECIPITATION: 10 – 20% chance of a stray shower or two.
